Help create a Well-Nourished Community
Our volunteers have a huge direct impact on our community! You can visit stores and restaurants to rescue food from landfills, drive around town to deliver groceries to local seniors, or attend one of our food distributions to hand food directly to our neighbors in need. You can also help in our warehouse sort produce and prepare food for community distributions. Your work and love can make a big difference!

How to Get Involved
Volunteers are an integral part of our operation. In 2019, 2,000+ volunteers donated more than 26,000 hours to us! If you would like to volunteer, please complete the online Volunteer Application Form and read through the Volunteer Orientation Manual.
The Hays County Food Bank offers the following Volunteer Opportunities
FOOD RESCUE ASSISTANT: Monday-Friday 8am-11am - ride with driver to restaurants and grocery stores around the community to rescue food from landfills
FOOD RESCUE DRIVER: Monday-Friday 8am-11am - drive our vans to local restaurants and grocery stores to rescue food (requires extra training)
WAREHOUSE: Monday-Friday 9am-1pm, Monday-Thursday 2pm-4pm - sort produce and donations to make sure all food is safe to eat, help clean and organize the warehouse, load and unload boxes from vans for food distributions
FOOD DISTRIBUTION: Monday 4:30pm-6:30pm in San Marcos, Tuesday 11:30am-1:30pm in Kyle, and Thursday 11:30am-1:30pm in Buda - meet us on site to build boxes of food and load them into people's cars (OUTDOOR SHIFT)
HOME DELIVERIES: Wednesday 10:45am-12:45pm - use your own vehicle to bring boxes of food to homebound seniors and people in a transitional housing program
