Brightest and Best

Southern Harmony 1835

Text by Reginald Hebner 1811

Arrangement by Shawn Kirchner

Hail the bless’d morn, see the great Mediator

Down from the regions of glory descend!

Shepherds go worship the babe in the manger,

Lo, for his guard the bright angels attend.

Brightest and best of the stars of the morning,

Dawn on our darkness and lend us thine aid.

Star in the east, the horizon adorning,

Guide where our infant Redeemer is laid.

Cold on his cradle the dew drops are shining,

Low lies his bed with the beasts of the stall.

Angels adore him in slumber reclining,

Maker and Monarch and Savior of all.

Shall we not yield him, in costly devotion,

Odours of Edom and offerings divine.

Gems of the mountains and pearls of the ocean,

Myrrh from the forrest or gold from the mine?

Violinist: Bethany Wharton

Sing We Now of Christmas

French Carol Noel Nouvelet

Arranged by Fred Prentice

Sing we now of Christmas, sing we all Noel

Of our Lord and Savior, we the tidings tell

Sing we Noel, for Christ the King is born.

Angels from on high say “Shepherds come and see.

He is born in Bethlehem, a blessed lamb for thee.”

Shepherds found the child lying in a manger stall.

Joseph standing by, and mother Mary mild.

Magi oriental journeyed from afar.

They did come to meet Him ‘neath the shining star.

Glory to God, for Christ the King is born.

Welcome Christmas Day

Words & Music by Dr. Steven Sodders

*World Premiere*

Morning dawns while bells ring out their changes

Ding dong ding dong, welcome Christmas day!

Joyful hymns sound; choirs lift up their voices

Ding dong ding dong, welcome Christmas day!

Bells are ringing, carolers are bringing tidings of great comfort and good cheer.

Peace on earth both near and far away,

Goodwill toward all, we welcome Christmas day.

Deck the tree with loved ones gathered round it.

Ding dong ding dong, welcome Christmas day!

Children’s eyes light up at presents found there.

Ding dong ding dong, welcome Christmas day!

Loudly sing of hope the season brings, and tidings of great comfort and good cheer.

Glow

Words by Edward Esch

Music by Eric Whitacre

Piano arrangement by Lisa Edwards

Softly falls the winter snow,

Whispers to the sleeping world below:

“Wintertide awakes.”

Morning breaks and set the earth aglow.

In gentle tones of warmest white,

Proclaim the glory of Aurora’s light.

Sparrow sings in a clear clean voice

A sweet, silver carol for the season born.

Radiant wings as the skies rejoice,

Arise and illuminate the morn.

Softly falls the winter snow,

Whispers to the sleeping world below:

“Glow, like the softly falling snow. Glow.”

Noel! Noel! Jesus has come to live with us.
