What is Social-Emotional Learning (SEL)? Developed by CASEL, it is the process of developing social emotional skills, like self-awareness, self-management, responsible decision making, social awareness and relationship skills. To promote SEL, among our our many tools include our award winning PBIS and Character Strong curriculums.
School-wide PBIS is a multi-tiered framework to make schools more effective places. It establishes a social culture and the behavior supports needed to improve social, emotional, behavioral, and academic outcomes for all students. PBIS is flexible enough support student, family, and community needs. At Highlands, we are giving students Husky Bucks for demonstrating desired behaviors.
