First BRAVO raffle November 18, 2021
We will be having a big ol' raffle to recognize the students and STAFF who practice the BRAVO way. November 18 is the date the Quad is the site, during lunch.
Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), is an evidence-based framework for developing positive behavior in schools nationwide to create a positive climate for learning. This is a research-based approach to teaching that offers practical strategies for bringing together social and academic learning throughout the school day involving all San Gabriel High School stakeholders.
For SGHS, we will have the BRAVO way. The BRAVO way employs teaching practices and strategies that achieve many of the goals of PBIS. These strategies are continually developed by San Gabriel High classroom teachers and school leaders. The premise of both PBIS and the BRAVO way is that continual teaching, modeling, and reinforcing of positive behavior will support children’s positive behaviors, reduce discipline problems, and promote a culture of greater productivity, safety, and learning.
PBIS and The BRAVO way share the same fundamental principles about how to best minimize problem behavior.
The BRAVO way approach uses positive strategies to help children develop desired behaviors. It recognizes that punitive or “get tough” strategies can be counterproductive and are harmful to children.
The BRAVO way approach focuses on changing students' environment in ways that support positive behavior and discourage negative behavior.
The BRAVO way approach recognizes that if we want children to meet behavior expectations, we have to take deliberate steps to teach them how.
The BRAVO way approach recognizes the importance of continuously reinforcing positive behavior once students have been taught how to behave positively.
The BRAVO way approach emphasizes having a system for responding immediately and consistently to children’s inappropriate behavior.
