PBIS is a 6-year district-wide initiative to make school a place where students feel they belong and feel safe. Each school is to define the desired behaviors and expectations they have for each student. At Monterey Highlands, we desire all our students to become LEADers.
L.E.A.D. is an acronym that stands for the following: Live Respectfully, Embrace Honesty, Act Responsibly, and Display Kindness. Students who demonstrate LEADership qualities in all areas of school to all students will be recognized for their positive behavior. Recognition may include but is not limited to receiving Husky Bucks to be used to participate in monthly activities with the principal, and Citizen of the Month.
As part of defining our expectations as LEAD, we have developed a matrix to define specific and key behaviors we want our students to embody and display at various locations on campus. When student's display these behaviors, they are awarded and recognized with a Husky Buck, which can be used to either spend at the Husky Store, or to purchase tickets to participate in campus events.
