Hi! My name is Ms. Chan. Welcome to the Monterey Highlands Gateway to Success Page! As an elementary school counselor, my focus is to provide preventative services and build a positive school climate to support the social and emotional well-being of all students through bi-weekly class presentations/class meetings, small counseling groups, and 1-on-1 check-ins with students. 

Prior to becoming an elementary school counselor, I worked as a mental health therapist with teens and adults as a licensed clinical social worker. I made the switch in my career to school counseling as I've come to believe the best way to support others is to teach them tools early on to help them cope with the challenges in life. It is my hope that the Gateway to Success program will equip students at Monterey Highlands to be successful and effective in managing the challenges that come their way as they grow and develop.
