Work Permit Instructions

Complete the “Statement of Intent to Employ Minor and Request for Work Permit” application. Remember that your parent/legal guardian and employer must sign the application. Attach a copy of your Social Security card and take it to the AHS College & Career Center. Applications will only be accepted Monday - Friday during lunch and Tuesday/Thursday after school in the Career Center.

Work Permit Regulations

ARCADIA UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT WORK PERMIT POLICY

One Work Permit will be issued per student. Students must maintain a 2.0 GPA and a good attendance record.

Work hours for students are as follows:

  • 16/17 year old students enrolled in work experience (CTE Retail Marketing) may work up to 6 hours per day and no more than 36 hours per week.

  • 16/17 year old students not enrolled in work experience may work up to 4 hours per day and no more than 28 hours per week.

  • 14/15 year old students may work up to 3 hours per day and no more than 18 hours per week.


Earn Elective Credit

Sophomore, junior and senior students who would like to receive elective credit and extended hours work permit please contact Mr. Finn at jfinn@ausd.net to receive registration information. Students must attend one class per week for 2 ½ hours. Students will learn customer relations, career advancement, safe work habits, tax preparation and terminology used in the industry.
