In this year-long elective course, students will engage in interpretive reading and listening activities, interpersonal spoken and written activities (student-to-student or student-teacher) and presentational speaking (to classmates or recorded) or writing activities in the French language. Possible themes to be explored are: greetings and introductions, preferences, school, leisure time activities, food and family. The goal is to acquire Novice-Mid level on the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) Proficiency scale in the three modes of communication: Interpretive, Interpersonal and Presentational. Students are introduced to the diverse cultures of the French-speaking world.Â
