(Phys 1302)
The course provides an understanding of the basic laws of nature, their application to our everyday lives, and their impact on our technological society. It introduces aspects, theories, and applications of classical mechanics, electricity and magnetism. The curriculum, aligned with the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), helps students develop critical thinking skills, create and use mathematical models, analyze and interpret data, conduct real-life investigations and construct explanations. The duration of the course is one year (1 credit) and covers the following concepts: motion in one dimension; two-dimensional motion; forces and the laws of motion; momentum and collisions; work and energy; and electricity and magnetism.
