The Music Department offers band to high school students for the study and performance of quality band music. Class activities emphasize the development of proper fundamental instrument techniques, tone production, tuning, fundamentals of music theory, music sight-reading and listening skills. We aim to develop strong individual and ensemble skills. Performance in the winter concert and at Arts Night are required for this course. Students will be able to:Â
learn proper performance techniques
objectively self-assess the quality of instrumental performances
build consistency in proper technique and effective performance
understand music theory
explore various music genres
participate in instrumental performances/concerts
Depending on availability, the choices of musical instruments are as follows: flute, clarinet, alto saxophone, tenor saxophone, trumpet, trombone, baritone, untuned and tuned percussion instruments.
