AP Language and Composition

This is an introductory course that acquaints students with the rigor and expectations of a university-level composition class. College Board states: “The AP English Language and Composition course is designed to help you become a skilled reader of a variety of texts as well as becoming a skilled writer. You’ll achieve this through awareness of the interactions among a writer's purposes, audience expectations, and subjects, as well as the ways that writing rules and language use contribute to effective writing.”

AP Language draws heavily on collaboration and seminars; the objective is to expand a student’s critical thinking and connective thinking. Students practice independent learning approaches, allowing them to take mastery of their own academic journey, skills essential for university.
