Meet the Middle School Counselor
Hello! My name is Lauren Hill and this will be my 5th year at Vista PEAK Exploratory as the 5th-8th grade school counselor and my 8th year as a school counselor. In addition to being the middle school counselor, I coach Cross Country and Track at Vista PEAK Preparatory. I received my Bachelors degree in Psychology from DePauw University and my Masters degree in School Counseling for the University of Iowa. When I'm not working I love to run, ski, hike, and be outside!
5th Grade
5th grade students complete the Planning & Possibilities lesson that uses the book Wilma Unlimited. Students will develop a personal goal for the year and identify steps they will complete to achieve their goal.
6th Grade
All 6th graders in APS take part in S.O.S (Signs of Suicide), this program is designed to increase a student's awareness of the warning signs of suicide and depression. It educates students on how to respond to these warning signs and who students can reach out to if they are concerned about themselves or a friend.
7th Grade
As 7th graders, students continue to build their academic and social skills, as well as, continue to explore career opportunities.
8th Grade
As 8th graders get closer to finishing their educational career at VPE we focus on preparing them for the transition to high school. For more information about the transition to high school, please check out Vista PEAK Preparatory's 8th grade parent website.

Individual Career & Academic Plan
As part of the APS 2020 Vision, "Every student will have a plan for his or her future." Every middle school student receives lessons regarding career/college readiness and completes tasks on Naviance as part of the ICAP process. All 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students create a SMART goal.

Relevant: Why is this goal important in you life?
Timely: When can you achieve this goal?
