CHANGES TO REQUIREMENTS FOR RESTRAINT AND SECLUSION - PLEASE READ CAREFULLY!
Welcome to the Aurora Public Schools RDP (Restraint Documentation Portal). Here you will find everything you need to complete the restraint documentation process. While some aspects of the restraint report will require you to mail, fax, and/or email the parents/guardians, all resources/hard copies are found in the resource tab in the upper right side of this website. All final restraint reports for the district are meant to be filled out and submitted electronically. ***Important***
When is it required to document in the Restraint Documentation Portal?
ALL Seclusions (no matter the duration) are required to be documented in the Restraint Documentation Portal
ALL Restraints that last longer than 1 minute are required to be documented in the Restraint Documentation Portal
Anytime there are multiple restraints for the same incident.
Please ensure you are meeting the proper time deadlines listed below
Restraint = 1 minute up to 5 minutes
1. Verbally notify building principal no later than the end of the school day
2. Written notification sent to parent no later than the end of the school day (change)
3. Within 1 school day – Complete and submit the “Restraint Incident Report”
4. Within 2 school days – Hold a Restraint Incident Debrief. Complete and submit the Restraint Incident Debrief Notes”
All Seclusions (regardless of time) and Restraints = greater than 5 minutes or multiple occurrences in same day
1. Verbally notify building principal no later than the end of the school day
2. Written notification sent to parent no later than the end of the school day (change)
3. Within 1 school day – Complete and submit the “Restraint Incident Report”
4. Within 2 school days – Hold a Restraint Incident Debrief. Complete and submit the “Restraint Incident Debrief Notes”
5. Within 5 calendar days – Ensure all parties have complete copies of the Restraint Incident Report, Restraint Incident Debrief Notes, and Parent/Guardian Notification. These parties include Parent/Guardian, Principal, APS CPI Team and ESS Coordinator.
