We are wrapping up the second week of state testing. Last week, students completed the Math assessment, and we are currently at 98.05% completion—just one student away from continuing our 98.07% completion streak. This week, we administered the ELA assessment, with makeup testing scheduled for Thursday and Friday. Next week, we will begin CAST and AP testing, followed by English 1A testing during the second-to-last week of May.
Academic & Scholar Athlete awards will be held on Monday, May 19th, in the PAC at 8:45 am.

West Valley Leadership is hosting a Talent Show during lunch from Wednesday through Friday this week. The performances are taking place in the PAC. So far, we’ve had a total of six acts participate. On Friday, the top three performers will return for a final showcase to compete for the title.
The WVECHS Senior Awards Night will be held in the PAC building on May 28th. This year, an outstanding number of students applied for scholarships, and it will be a great night to celebrate their success and future plans.
Last Friday, fifteen West Valley and Anderson students showcased their skills in our first annual Culinary Competition. The event was a dynamic and spirited showdown, highlighting impressive culinary talent and presentation. We were proud to host the Anderson team on our campus for this exciting collaboration. West Valley claimed the title this year, and we’re already looking forward to another exciting matchup next year.
This week, the Shasta County Office of Education sent Madison Beaudette to deliver a Prevention Presentation to our freshman classes during their Social Science period. Students learned about the dangers and health impacts associated with tobacco products.
On Wednesday night, Mr. Byxbe invited staff to attend the final varsity softball game of the season. We were proud to have approximately 11 faculty members show up in support. It was an exciting game, with our team winning 17–0. The presence of our staff did not go unnoticed—our athletes and their families truly appreciated seeing faculty in the stands, reinforcing the strong sense of community and support on campus.
Your West Valley Varsity Eagles are officially NAL League Champions for the first time since 2017! The team is having an incredible season, boasting a perfect 10-0 record in league play, 17 straight wins, and an overall record of 19-3.
Senior Athlete Signing Day will take place on May 28th from 4:30 to 6:00 PM in the West Valley Library.
Our annual sports physicals were held on Monday, providing service to 211 student-athletes, both current and incoming. The event was a great success and ensured our athletes are ready for the upcoming seasons.
