Our school enrollment is currently at 721 students; we have gained three new students this past week. Our average daily attendance for the year is 92.81% as of March 6th. Of 711 students, 190 have maintained perfect attendance, and 46 have had perfect period attendance since the start of this semester.
Congratulations to this week's $10 Dutch Bros gift card winner! Estevan achieved "PERFECT" attendance for the week of February 24th-28th — we are proud of him making Attendance a priority.
At Monday’s School Site Council meeting, staff, parents, and community members reviewed the West Valley Facility Master Plan and the School Plan for Student Achievement. It was a productive and successful meeting.
During the meeting, Lindsay Carruth, a WV parent, was nominated as our Chairperson. Additionally, Kat Domke will create a stakeholder survey as we prepare for the upcoming LCAP meeting, which is scheduled for June (the exact date to be announced).
The past three weeks have been incredibly busy for West Valley students, staff, and administration.
From championships for three different teams to state playoffs for basketball and wrestling, it’s been a whirlwind of activity—and spring sports are now officially underway.
Last Friday, we hosted our annual 8th-grade Invasion, welcoming approximately 220 students from four schools. This year, we wrapped up the event with a 20-minute rally, which received great feedback from students, faculty, and parents alike.
We were also excited to finally host our first annual Cornhole Tournament after several postponements due to weather and 8th Grade Invasion preparations. Both students and staff participated, and it was a hit! The tournament featured four custom cornhole sets, all built by our very own Construction Tech 1 class.
This past Wednesday, we held our 8th Grade Parent Night under beautiful skies. Increased participation from our sports teams and clubs resulted in an excellent turnout. So far, over 150 incoming students have already pre-enrolled!
On Thursday, we welcomed representatives from over 27 local businesses to campus for a special event to showcase career and educational opportunities available to students during and after high school. Students engaged in hands-on activities and games and even experienced virtual reality visuals of the new Shasta College building, created by NMR Architects and Engineers. CHP also attended, using Fatal Vision Alcohol Goggles to deliver impactful lessons on impaired driving, underage drinking, and substance abuse prevention.
Stay tuned for photos and more details in next week’s Board Brief!
