Over the next three weeks teachers and administration will continuing testing and working with students to ensure all students start and finish testing. Before the school year concludes, students, family, and AUHS will receive results from this year's testing.
AUHS Senior Student of the Month
Mr. Costa led the AHS Band in our annual Fill the Shako at Safeway and raised over 700.00 dollars!
Way to go Band and Mr. Costa!
Spring Production
AUHSD Theater presented Mean Girls musical on April 30th, May 1st, and May 2nd. Tickets were $9 for Students and $12 for adults. This was a funny and entertaining production where our students displayed their wonderful talent in a story of Teenager Cady Heron, who although having grown up on an African savanna, she could not have been prepared her for the wild and vicious ways of her strange new home...suburban Illinois! This high school newbie fell prey to a trio of bad-girl "frenemies" who were taught the errors of their bullying ways.
Building & Construction
The AUHSD Building & Construction Trades teacher Mr. Derrick Jones was off campus Monday 4/27/26 visiting Butte College to learn and finish his last observation for the induction program. He viewed the experience as extremely productive, with student learning outcomes being a focus between all instructors. Mr. Jones is not only confident that he has done a good job for students this year he feels with the help and networking from this visit, the AUHSD program alignment will make next year even better.
Counselors are working with Mr. Safford on the Master Schedule, talking to students and making course adjustments for next school year, preparing for the Senior Awards night on May 19th, and administering the AP English Exam.
LCAP Goal #2. Anderson Union High School District will provide a safe, orderly, and responsive learning environment for all students.
UNDER THE BOARDWALK
Over spring break Cub Connection took 15 students and 5 adults to Santa Cruz for a day of surfing. Only 3 of those students returned from last year. Everyone had an amazing time. We are very thankful that Mr. Slosted and Mr. Klaiber, former teachers and Surf Club advisors are willing to continue the tradition of giving these students this opportunity. Shout out to Mrs. Wonder and Mrs. Longnecker (lifeguard) for joining us this year. We met the students at 5:45 am on a Thursday and left at 6:00 am. Our first stop is always McDonalds in Williams and then onto Cowell’s Surf shop in Santa Cruz to gear up in wet suits and get our boards. Then off to the beach for a quick lesson on how to get up on your board. The students then get guided assistance from Mr. Slosted and Mr. Klaiber who stand out in the water with the students to assist in catching their first wave. After approximately 2 ½ hours of surfing, it's back to Cowell’s to change and head to the boardwalk for lunch and site seeing for a couple of hours. The next stop is also a tradition of Surf Club and that is at Marianne’s Ice Cream. On our way home, we stop in Vallejo for In and Out Burger for dinner, then arrive home at about 11:30 pm. The day is long, yet well worth it to see this group of hand selected kids learn something new and get to know other classmates with this shared experience.
College Commit
Senior student-athlete Michael Manley and AUHS celebrated his commitment to playing on the Offensive side of the ball as Tight End for Butte College next year. Michael play wide receiver and linebacker for us this past season and is now packing on muscle to compete at the next level.
LCAP Goal #3. AUHS will develop and maintain a systematic method for partnering with parents, guardians and community members in the ongoing development of district programs and services.
Appreciating our Cub Educators
In honor of Teacher Appreciation Week 2026, the wonderful, high-powered, and most importantly positive ladies of AUHS PACE (Parent Advisory and Community Engagement) are providing ALL Staff with the following:
• Monday- Heavenly Donuts and Starbucks Coffee
• Tuesday- Soda and Build your own Red Bull drink
• Wednesday- Wide variety of foods
PACE is on mission every year to engage our families and community in our school, raise money for scholarships, and find ways to brighten the day for students and staff at Anderson.
AUHS teachers are a brilliant collection of hard working professionals. Beyond simply delivering thoughtfully crafted curriculum, our educators foster critical thinking skills and a sense of intellectual curiosity that can define our students future career paths. They provide a vital support system, offering guidance and stability our teen cubs navigate the complexities of growing into an adult. By seeing potential in students that they might not yet see in themselves, our teachers push students to reach mastery and instill abilities and the confidence necessary to pursue ambitious goals. Ultimately, the impact of our dedicated teachers extends far beyond the classroom, shaping the character and resilience of the next generation of citizens. Thank you AUHS teachers!
In leadership, we are planning for Buff Puff and a Spring Spirit Week!
Track at AUHS is Back
Thank you AUHSD Board of Education and Superintendent Parker for investing in our new track. It has been many years since AUHS could host a track meet. Now with the a quality track and the efforts of our Head track coach, Eric Hinson, and track and timing system guru, Jeff Osborn, we hosted an NAL meet on Wednesday 4/29/26. The AUHS staff in the booth and on the field all came together for an awesome rebirth of track at the Bob Reid stadium.
Field Condition
The AUHS Maintenance team has been doing their best to get our football field ready for next football season and it is looking much better but it really needs significant work in the next couple of years. Principal Safford has applied for the T-Mobile "Friday Night 5G Lights" contest that asks participants to advertise their participation on their school social media accounts. Schools can win $5,000 for their early entry and they can win a new field or stadium upgrades.
Lions All Star Football Game
Senior athlete Michael Manley was selected to play on the Large School North team as WR/LB. This game will be played at 7:30pm on Saturday June 20, 2026 at Foothill High School.
