Mr. Lewis' Horticulture class and the Gardening Club have diligently engaged in the preparation of their respective garden beds to execute the project they proposed in the previous quarter. The garden beds feature a variety of themes, such as a salsa garden, a salad garden, a butterfly garden, among others.
WASC Action Plan Goal: Create a systemic plan to integrate new, mid-year and homeschooling students into our school culture and retain them over the course of 4 or 5 years.
Sacramento Wildlife Refuge Field Trip - April 4th
Mr. Lewis and the ANTHS Forestry Club visited the Sacramento National Wildlife Refuge in Willows, CA. Students met with seven park rangers and employees, who discuss the wildlife refuge, its purpose, how it works, and potential jobs at the wildlife refuge. Students then did a walking tour, guided by the rangers, where they were able to learn about multiple plants and animals that live in the wildlife refuge.
After lunch, students were driven on an auto-tour, where they were able to see the extent of the wildlife refuge, along with plants, turtles, deer, and many types of native birds.
Zack Caples, a representative of Simpson University's Upward Bound program, is present on our campus for the majority of each week. He offers guidance to students in navigating their college and career pathways, in addition to providing support with 3D printing projects.
The Upward Bound program also organizes workshops and field trips for students to tour California and southern Oregon college & university campuses.
We are happy to have Mr. Caples on campus!

Mrs. McWilliams and our Leadership students hosted the final Breakfast Club/Assembly of the year. During the event, Mrs. Hysell, Mrs. McWilliams, and teachers shared announcements about upcoming school events and reminded everyone that the end of the year is approaching.
Students had a great time playing the "Strike a Pose" game, with the freshmen taking home the top prize!
In a generous gesture, local non-profit Exodus Farms brought in a 5-week-old goat for our Kiss the Goat fundraiser. Representatives from the farm shared insights about their operations and mentioned their ongoing need for volunteer assistance.
For the fundraiser, students and staff contributed to labeled watering cans to cast their votes for the teacher and student who would earn the honor of kissing the goat. In a decisive victory, Ms. Benetatos and sophomore Cade were chosen. A big thank you to everyone who participated in fundraising for ASB!
