Students in Anderson New Tech’s Forestry Club attended the Sierra-Cascade Logging Conference. In the morning, students heard presentations on careers throughout the forestry industry, including from the National Forest Service, the Bureau of Land Management, Sierra Pacific Industries, and the Shasta Land Trust. Students then were able to tour through the conference, where they were able to meet and talk with professionals in the industry, as well as observe colleges competing in logging sports.

Senior student, Zeke, said that there was a lot of useful scholarship information available to students interested in Forestry.

In an early celebration of Valentine's Day, Leadership organized a surprise Spirit Day theme to complement our Breakfast Club assembly on February 13th. The theme was revealed as "Pajama Day," allowing both students and staff to enjoy the comfort of their favorite pajamas.
Breakfast Club assembly featured live music performed by Mr. Peterson and his talented guitar students, along with exciting drawings and prizes given away. Additionally, teachers took the stage to share some announcements, including an invitation from Mrs. McWilliams for students to apply for Leadership.

On Saturday, February 8th, Anderson New Tech students and Mr. Lewis went to Whiskeytown National Recreation Area, where they helped park rangers in an ongoing effort to clear and restore trails surrounding the Whiskeytown Environmental School. With rangers and other volunteers, the students cleared the Willow Trail of overgrowth, pruning trees and cutting back blackberries, to make the creek-side trail passable once again.
As a graduation requirement, students are obligated to fulfill 40 hours of community service as part of the Big 3 initiative. We inspire our students to enhance our community, leaving it in a better state than when they first encountered it.
Jill McWilliams has been busy traveling to different schools in Shasta County, January through March. Mrs. McWilliams has seen a lot of positive response to the presentations! Our presentation slideshow can be seen using this link.
We are pleased to announce our upcoming information session for parents, guardians, and students on February 27th. This evening will feature presentations about New Tech, a forum for questions directed to a panel of students, and introductions to our faculty and staff members.
20 incoming 9th graders with "intent" or pre-registration completed.
Current and former employees from New Tech came together to give Mrs. Boydstun a delightful party for her 60th birthday. The celebration was themed "Sweet & Spicy 60," complete with coordinating t-shirts to mark the special occasion.
Mrs. Boydstun was completely surprised, and the event turned out to be a fantastic time for all involved.
