Students participate in the 2024 Forestry Challenge
LCAP Goal 1: Over the course of four years, all students will be able to demonstrate mastery of the essential “soft skills” that business, college and university leaders seek, as they progress towards graduation while having completed an A-G course of study and/or an identified CTE pathway.WASC Action Plan Goal: Continue to adapt curriculum, assessments, and resources to the new hybrid model.
Students must demonstrate communication, collaboration and critical thinking as those are the components of their grades.
Students practice those skills every time they are in a group project, learning to work with peers (that were not friends), produce an item (not of their choosing) and reflect on the outcome and ways to improve in the future.
LCAP Goal 2: New Tech will provide a safe learning environment to work with students in order to meet their mental, emotional, and physical health while maintaining our high academic standards with a focus on future success.
WASC Action Plan Goal: Create a systemic plan to integrate new, mid-year and homeschooling students into our school culture and retain them over the course of 4 or 5 years.

We have invited our independent study students to participate in our montly events, school events as well as clubs. Often that connection is what will bring them back and encourage them to shift to our hybrid program.
All of our new students have been assigned a mentor student to be their "peer person" to show them around, answer question and help with tech issues. This has helped all students feel more welcome.
All students, new and returning have their PLT (Personalized Learning Teacher) to help navigate the school and their path within, connecting to counselor, Echo Help, or anything they need to be more future ready.

LCAP Goal 3: New Tech will develop and maintain a systematic method for partnering with parents and community members.
WASC Action Plan Goals: Strengthen parental connections and offer more opportunities for connections on campus.
WASC Action Plan Goal: Find, develop and cultivate relationships with community members and alumni; create opportunities for them to be regularly involved on campus.
- Staff are discussing and reviewing options to create a systematic method, beyond parent supervision for dances and/or lock-in events
- PLT (Personalized Learning Teacher) Meetings with parent(s), student and teacher continue to develop meaningful opportunities for quarterly connections on campus.
- We continue to answer the call when organizations, events need volunteers. Often we can help fulfill their needs, creating more community partnerships, and sometimes we cannot but encourage them to reach out again.

We would like to recognize Peyton as our September Student of the Month for her outstanding dedication as an Office Aide, Leadership representative and all-around great student. Your tireless efforts are truly appreciated!
Mrs. Boydstun is a veteran art and design teacher at New Tech. She continues to grow as an educator, this year taking on a photography in natural science club to inspire student creativity with nature. Mrs. Boydstun has joined the camping crew and hiking excursions among other New Tech Activities. Your encouragement, inspiration, and time are greatly appreciated.
