National Association for Music Education, among the world’s largest arts education organizations, marked its centennial in 2007 as the only association that addresses all aspects of music education. Through membership of more than 75,000 active, retired, and preservice music teachers, and with 60,000 honor students and supporters, NAfME serves millions of students nationwide through activities at all teaching levels, from preschool to graduate school.
Augustana College's NAfME Chapter is an organization aimed toward helping the music students of Augustana College develop as a professional. We meet bi-weekly throughout the year and bring in a large variety of speakers to supplement what we are not able to learn in the classroom. Though this group is aimed for music educators, the large variance in speakers attending our meetings helps us to branch out and reach all music majors of the chapter.
Joining our chapter is a great way to not only develop yourself as a professional, but to also give yourself an extra step forward when it comes to graduate and begin applying for jobs. The National Association for Music Education is a nationally recognized professional development group and its presence on a resume can really make your application stick out. We also have a variety of opportunities to get more involved with the chapter and build your leadership experience, from being an Executive Board member, to being a Committee Chair. If you are interested in learning more about us, you can contact our President, Ariane Omerza, at arianeomerza17@augustana.edu or attend our next meeting (which you can find out more about by checking the events tab). We look forward to getting to know you!
