ABOUT MSA

Mission

The Augustana Muslim Student Association is an organization that builds brotherhood and sisterhood with Muslim students and students of all faiths and backgrounds, engages with the neighboring communities, increases Islamic awareness on campus, and interacts together in enjoyable activities. Emphasis is placed on the spiritual, religious, and social, civic growth and well-being of students. Though our group is primarily a faith based organization, you don't have to be a Muslim to join and come to the meetings.

Vision

All Muslim students have a safe space in which to build a closer relationship with God and their community.

History

Augustana’s MSA was established in 1998 and has been thriving ever sense. Many graduates who participated in this organization have gone on to medical school as well as graduate school in business, cyber security, law, religion, business, biology, physics, geography, pre-veterinary, pre-medicine, among others. Muslim Student Association continues to serve Muslim students during their college and university careers by facilitating their efforts to establish, maintain, and develop local MSA chapters. MSA continues its mission of meeting the needs of Muslim youth on campus with the zeal and enthusiasm of the Muslim students, but requires the support of the larger community.

Prayer Room

Students can use our prayer room to pray in between classes. The room is located on the 3rd floor in the Olin building, in Room 306 across CORE. The prayer room should be unlocked but if it's locked you can request the CORE secretary to unlock the room. MSA will also have a new beautiful meditation room in the new Lindberg building (next to Evald) that is available to the MSA for Jummah prayers.
