Augustana College NAMI on Campus helps students feel mentally and emotionally well, serving as a first step for students to talk (or not) and learn from their peers. Meetings are a safe place to share, learn, and take a break from the stresses of life.
We plan on implementing these values into our work, for our success:
Confidentiality
Unconditional support
Solidarity
Relatability
Sense of community and belonging
No judgement
Education on mental health
Growth through shared experiences
Celebrating even the small victories
Goals:
Make students feel welcome and provide a sense of belonging
Be a safe, and accepting environment for students to share their stories
Provide the correct resources on various topics related to mental health
Share coping mechanisms
Spread our message around campus and grow the group
Reduce the stigma around mental health issues
Simply make the struggles of college life easier for students
Cool/fun events to raise awareness
