Friends and family can reach you if they need to during your time in Mexico. Before your departure, CGEE will provide you with direct-dial emergency numbers for the places you will be staying. Most of the accommodations CGEE uses do not have phones in the rooms. Some, but not all, have Wi-Fi.
The CGEE guesthouse, Casa Augsburg, in Cuernavaca has Wi-Fi. There are computers with internet and Voice-Over-Internet (VOI) phone, which you can use for free to email and make calls to the United States and Canada. In other places, participants should plan to use their own cell phone for international calls.
For some programs, CGEE will give you a local cell phone for use during your time in Mexico which you must return at the end of the trip. This enables CGEE staff to contact you in the event of an emergency. Each cell phone has several phone numbers programmed on them so that you may quickly call radio taxis and emergency numbers.
