Description: The papaya is a comparatively tiny, sparsely branched tree with spirally arranged leaves constrained to the top of the trunk, growing from 5 to 10 m (16 to 33 ft) tall. The lower trunk is prominently disfigured where leaves and fruit have been produced. The leaves are large, with seven lobes and a diameter of 50-70 cm (20-28 in). In expressed laticifers, latex is found in all plant parts.
