Welcome to my web page ....

I am a Professor at the Department of Electronics and Communications Engineering (simply, ECNG) at The American University in Cairo (AUC). I earned my Ph.D. from Carleton University in Canada, my M.Sc. from Queen’s University in Canada and my B.Sc. from Cairo University in Egypt, all in Electrical Engineering. I am a senior IEEE member and my biography appears in Marquis Who’s Who in the World in 2010.

ECNG (https://sse.aucegypt.edu/departments/electronics-communications) is a vibrant department where we expose our students to the latest and greatest of High Tech in our field. If you are interested in earning your degree and working in the most advanced fields of the technology, then ECNG is definitely the department to join!

Due to my extensive industrial background, mostly in the Telecom and Networking areas, I am always keen on ensuring that my students get prepared with what is needed to tackle the challenges they will face in the field, upon their graduation. This may not resonate with some students at first, but when they graduate and join the workforce or take on an internship opportunity, they start realizing the importance and merits of this approach.

My research interests are also affected by my industrial background. I make sure to pursue research activities that have practical applications. This is quite evident in my publications and the research projects in which I engage my graduate students and research assistants (RAs).

I am always on the look for research talents (graduate, undergraduate and RAs) who like to engage in cutting-edge research in wireless networks, smart systems and related topics. So, if you are interested in such areas, and have what it takes to conduct excellent research, make sure to contact me!
