Bios:

Rania Jabr is a Senior English Language Instructor II in the English Language Institute at the American University in Cairo. Rania Jabr has been an English language instructor at AUC since 1990. She is a CELTA certified native speaker of English. She is the recipient of the AUC Board of Trustees Award in 1995 and the Excellence in Teaching Award in 2013. She is a member judge in the ELTons International Awards Judges’ Team for its 2021 & 2022 Awards for Innovation in English Language Teaching. She is past Chair of NileTESOL - AUC Conference in 2012, Co-chair for the same conference in 2018, and Co-chair for the Virtual Conference in 2022. She is a course designer, conference and webinar presenter, a teacher educator, and a member of the editorial board of numerous EFL journals. Her areas of interest are course design, materials development, skill integration, student autonomy, assessment, online teaching, and using technology in teaching as evidenced by her numerous publications in professional publications, conference presentations, and webinars. She has published a minimum of 25 peer reviewed articles in scholarly journals in her field.

Laila ElSerty is an Instructor in the Department of English Language Instruction at the American University in Cairo (AUC). ElSerty graduated in 2011 from AUC’s MATESOL program, the same program that awarded her a two-year teaching fellowship. For over 20 years, ElSerty has been teaching a variety of courses to both undergraduate and graduate students. These include English for academic purposes, linguistics, business writing, and research writing courses. ElSerty has served on different general and departmental committees at AUC. She has also participated in different teacher training programs and given presentations at a number of national and international conferences. Her academic interests include Curriculum Design, Global Learning, Language Assessment, Discourse Analysis, and Technology-Assisted Language Learning.
