Algebraic Topology: A Primer, Second Edition, by Satya Deo.
Algebraic Topology, by Oscar Randal-Williams.
We will assume a good command of general topology and abstract algebra. Specifically:
1. Notions from elementary point-set topology (e.g. open sets, continuity, compactness, connectedness, path-connectedness, etc...)
2. Vector spaces, groups, and the basics of ring theory. A good working knowledge of quotients, isomorphism theorems, direct sums, and direct products will be assumed.

For abstract algebra, we recommend Artin's "Abstract Algebra" - Second Edition.
This will be an intense mathematical learning experience. We will have lectures and exercise sessions daily for the entirety of the event. During the exercise sessions, the students will work together (with our help) to solve problems about the content of the lectures. The exercises make up a crucial part of the workshop and it is the only way to absorb the material in time for the next topic.
Our philosophy in this workshop is not only to give a formal and rigorous treatment of basic topics in algebraic topology, but also to make the presentation visually vivid to reflect the geometric ideas underlying many of the algebraic constructions. We believe a good combination of rigor and visual understanding is extremely beneficial for understanding and appreciating the subject. Overall, the goal is to guide you in exploring this beautiful area of mathematics while forming long lasting mathematical connections with your peers. We hope you will join us and have a great deal of fun ;)
