In addition to the 2023-2024 school year the Y.J club or commonly known as the Youth Jeopardy Club has had an amazing school year. As the school year went by the club went on to Youth Final Jeopardy and as they prepared to compete they were asked questions.
"After my seven months here at the Y.J club I’ve learned that this club takes patience and time to figure out,” said eighth grader John Talkers.
The team had a variety of questions when they went to meets which for some went until nine at night. Some of the questions included; “What school is the newest” or “What caused the U.S to join WWI”.
In addition to the new club the Youth Jeopardy team made it to Final Jeopardy to compete at a chance of winning a new track making this the most important meet for the MBMS students.
“As we got closer to the meet the training for it became hard so we had to watch a LOT of Jeopardy to be prepared.” said 7th grader Miller Miles.
As the days came for Final Youth Jeopardy the team prepared in choosing their candidate.
“When I was chosen for the candidate of the last meet I was surprised probably because I was the only student who was present for the day of choosing,” said sixth grader Nathan Books.
The team expresses their gratitude for the club as much as they love pizza. “The club was really fun, we got to go to cool destinations such as the Outlet Collection and that one pizza place that was really big” said Miles “I believe that we also learned how to watch the jeopardy show as that was our main source of training and homework”.
In addition the students thought about the club more thoroughly and thought that it didn't seem as what they expected the club to be.
“When I joined the club I thought it would be a lot more like the actual jeopardy but it wasn’t and I don't understand why we had to watch those videos for the club. I almost wanted to quit but in reality the club was way funner then I thought” said John Talkers.
The record of the team was fourteen wins and nine losses against other students and as a result came in two being beaten by Olympic. With the season over the team went to conference and came home with the title of co-league champs.
