Dodo Bird Ballet Studio has been infamous for its review for one star on Yelp, we’ve all heard many monstrous things about this specific ballet studio founded by Dodo Giwa. Is it true that the teacher forces her students to wear bows the size of elephants? Does she really force her students to dance to her song “Boomberang” everyday?
Dodo Giwa has recently opened her own dance studio, Dodo Bird Ballet Studio or D.B.B.S. Ever since the studio had started constructing in 2020, to the day that it opened on November 9th, 2022 it has been a trendy topic. Rumors spiral that the owner/founder of the studio, Dodo Giwa has been involved in suspicious activity in D.B.B.S. Dodo Giwa had a great kick-start to her musical career so why did she stop to start her own dance studio at age 18?
“I opened this dance studio because once in awhile I like to watch the show 'Dance Dads' as a memory, but one day I thought ‘What if I made my own dance studio?’ At that time I really loved ballet and being all preppy but I am a changed woman.” Giwa said, “No one has made such an impact and change to this world. No one has made such an extreme change. I’m the first in this generation and it was definitely scary but someone had to do it.”
It’s true that Giwa has changed, Dodo has gone, what the world calls today, full on “emo”. With all these rumors flying in from left and right, we can wonder why clients have even decided to join the D.B.B.S. Are students really okay with how Giwa acts in her current situation? What can they tell us about Dodo?
“I joined Dodo Bird Ballet Studio because ballet was always my dream. Dodo Giwa was my idol throughout my life. I collected all her bows and when I heard that she was opening her own ballet studio, I just bursted with joy.” a student at D.B.B.S, Kooper Dimpledoo said, “After her new song, 'Karma' came out, she changed a whole bunch. She is all gangster now and she always yells at me when I wear one of her hot pink bows and tells me to dye it black or eat it…”
With this new information, we wonder if parents are fine with this kind of behavior from a role model to their children. Maybe a few years ago, parents would have openly decided to join D.B.B.S but now in 2024, this idea is just not a reality. With Yelp reviews having an average of 1.2 stars, what is so great about this ballet studio? Would parents ever recommend this studio and what are their true opinions about D.B.B.S?
“I would not recommend Dodo Bird Ballet Studio. There are too many reasons why but I will explain the worst ones. One lesson costs $753, how is that possible?!” Twinkletoe said, “I signed my daughter up for ballet but she has not improved since the first time she joined. ”
Considering that Dodo Giwa is neither a good role model and robs families of their money, how is it that students aren’t improving? For a whopping $753 per lesson, any person would expect the best outcome for their child but that doesn’t seem to be happening for students at D.B.B.S. All of this information comes back to one of the most popular rumors concerning Dodo Giwa: does she force her students to do her chores as a form of “training”? Many of us are familiar with this type of training used in the movie, “Parate Kid” when the main character is told to pick up jackets and wash cars from his sensei or trainer. Although these are household chores, the main character actually learns something, as this technique builds strength and reflexes in the body. However, this doesn’t seem to be the case for Dodo Giwa. Seeing the way the students do the chores that are given to them, Giwa seems to be making her students do her chores simply because she is lazy and is only using 'training' as an excuse.
“Miss Giwa does make us wash her car as training. I used to love going out and washing my mom’s car but now I can’t even stand to go to a car wash. I wish that we would do actual training, all she does is make us do her chores. It doesn’t even help us.” said Louisiana Montana, a 10 year-old student at D.B.B.S.
Many parents are outraged at this information but rumor also has it that Dodo only teaches her students hip hop dance moves, making parents all the more upset. People all over the world are confused and angered by this because D.B.B.S is supposed to be a ballet studio, as it says in the name. And here parents were wondering why none of their children were getting better at ballet and always returning home with hip hop dance moves slightly memorized instead of their anticipated plié. Rumors spiral that at D.B.B.S, children do not do ballet but instead hip-hop. Which leaves us wondering, isn't this a ballet studio?
“My sweet peach has been in this dance company since the opening of 2022 but ever since 2023 I have never encountered my little peach do ballet.” Chewieworth said, “They are always doing some funky hip-hop dances. I want my sweet peach to quit but she is going through an emo-phase. I didn't sign my sweet peach up for hip-hop."

With an overall rating of 1.2 stars on a local business review service, Yelp, we can see the most popular reviews from parents of children who go to D.B.B.S. With these reviews backing up rumors involving Dodo Giwa and D.B.B.S, we can't be sure of the "promising" future of Dodo Bird Ballet Studio.
