Welcome to 6th Grade ... the Cygnus Cluster!
I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you back to the start of another fabulous school year! I hope everyone had a fabulous summer ... although, I’m thinking it still had it's share of challenges you continued to stay healthy and safe. My name is Mrs. Herrick, primarily the 6th grade math teacher for the upcoming school year. Mrs. Samson is the 6th grade ELA teacher ... and integrating social studies into her ELA blocks. Additionally, Mr. Yates will be joining the 6th grade team. He will be teaching the science curriculum and helping to support reading/writing. We are looking forward to the opportunity to explore, learn and play with our 6th graders. Our classrooms are located in the Cygnus Cluster, which is down by the cafeteria and lower parking lot.
Each grade is an exciting time as students embark upon new adventures in the world of learning, as well as one in which important skills and transitions are accelerated. We will work and play hard together as we challenge our students to meet grade level expectations. Additionally, we hope to instill a lifelong love of learning that makes your child’s experience a fun, engaging and exciting one.
We look forward to seeing our students in the building on Wednesday, September 1, 2021. Should you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact any of us.

ANNOUNCEMENTS!
Stayed tuned in ... as we continue to navigate through uncharted waters ... COVID19 ... teachers and administration are processing creative ways to support student's academic needs. The plan is for all students to return to school for 5 days. We will continue to use the google platform for students and Remind as a way to communicate with parents. Should there be a need for a cluster/school shutdown, student work will be assigned through google classroom, and/or a virtual classroom learning platform. If the need for remote learning arises, we will use Zoom for morning meetings/class time. Attendance will be tracked during student’s learning at both school and home. We will continue to provide information about plans, procedures, guidelines, etc. throughout the year, so check backpacks frequently. When learning at home, we would encourage you to have a quiet work space and establish routines that will help ensure academic success.
Thanks!
A special thanks to parents who have signed up for Remind (parent/teacher communication). If you have not already done so, please sign up so that I have this platform to connect with you and my students.
