Welcome! I'm Cindy Smith, your Counselor at East Auburn Community School and grades K-2 at Fairview Elementary School. This site was designed to connect students, teachers, and families with social and emotional supports During the COVID-19 pandemic. My goal is to do whatever it takes to help a student be successful both academically and socially.
Please check back often, as I hope to update the website regularly with new information!
As we all adjust to the new "normal" due to COVID-19 pandemic, I know some children AND parents might be having some strong feelings and worries as we start back in-person learning. I hope you find the resources on this site (see tabs at the top of the page), beneficial to you. Please feel free to reach out if you have concerns about your child's social, emotional, or academic needs.
Who Are School Counselors?
School counselors are certified/licensed educators with a minimum of a master's degree in school counseling, making them uniquely qualified to address all students’ academic, career and social/emotional development needs by designing, implementing, evaluating and enhancing a comprehensive school counseling program that promotes and enhances student success. I provide:
classroom lessons
social skills groups
parent consultations
Community resource referrals
brief solution-focused counseling (grief, family changes etc)
*please note school counselors do not provide therapy. Referrals for outside services are available for children experiencing mental health concerns or in need of long term individual supports.
