Purpose: The purpose of the DIBELS is to provide educators with standards for gauging the progress of all students. DIBELS subtests measure critical skills and abilities that are necessary for reading success and most offer both benchmark and progress-monitoring forms.

Purpose: Summative assessments are one measure of students’ progress toward college and career readiness in English language arts/literacy and math. These assessments are given at the end of the school year and consist of two parts: a computer adaptive test and a performance task.

TIme: Approximately 6-7 hours combined reading and mathematics

Purpose: The Washington Comprehensive Assessment of Science (WCAS) measures the level of proficiency that Washington students have achieved based on the Washington State 2013 K-12 Science Learning Standards, which are the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). All students are assessed on their knowledge of the standards through the WCAS in grades 5, 8, and 11. The tests fulfill the federal Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) requirement that students be tested in science once at each level: elementary, middle, and high school

TIme: Approximately 90-120 minutes
