TikTok has been a problem at MBMS for thousands of years, and while many students are addicted, the effects of TikTok could be positive.
CheetOh, a famous Twitch streamer who regularly posts on his TikTok shares his ideas on how TikTok could be helping students by doing their passion.
“You can get really famous on TikTok by doing what you love!” CheetOh said. “For example, I gained my followers by being the funniest streamer ever. In fact, I became one of the BIGGEST streamers on the platform!”
TikTok can also be used for good, as Mr. Yeast, a TikTok star with over 100 billion followers, states how he actually was able to exercise more because of TikTok.
“My fingers have NEVER been stronger!” Mr. Yeast said. “Scrolling on TikTok has enhanced my fingers, bringing them to new levels of scrolling!”
Even though the Chinese government is stealing data from TikTok users, many people find this to be a positive, including many famous TikTok stars.
“I think that the Chinese government is actually learning more about America,” Zach Queen said. “and are using the data collected by people for good. Maybe they are just trying to be more like us?”
TikTok has an addicting property, but this may actually help keep people awake due to the scrolling.
“I’ve actually stopped drinking coffee just because of TikTok!” Cai Kenat said. “I’ve been scrolling so much that it's actually kept me awake. Coffee has never kept me up for this long before.”
Lhaby Kame, a famous TikTok star, had this to share about how TikTok stops people from going outside.
“I think going outside is actually more dangerous to people.” Lhaby Kame said. “There are many dangers in the outside world, such as sunburn and natural disasters. I think we are better off as a society if we stay inside our homes and watch TikTok.”
Many critics suggest that TikTok can cause people to feel self-conscious or lower their self-esteem. While this can be true, others suggest differently.
“I believe that TikTok can actually boost people’s self-esteem or confidence,” Pella Boarch said. “by letting the world see what other people look like. Now I know that TikTok isn’t perfect, but there are also many good things that people overlook.”
TikTok has its flaws, but there are positives that people don’t look at. People gloss over the positives and focus on the negatives of TikTok.
“TikTok is a place for people to share their thoughts, and have a good time.” Zach Queen said. “But instead, people slander TikTok and make it seem like a terrible place. But no matter how much people shame on TikTok, we still see the positives in the app.”
