All assignments and tests on Clever -> Big Ideas -> Bottom left corner
- Weekly 2 assignments - in Big Ideas due 20+15+ correct fridays for full credit, the following monday for late credit
  - Expectation is if class time is given to begin assignment or complete assignment, you do so.
- Weekly Test on week prior material on Mondays - in Big Ideas due by end of period, makeup for absences due the by the next mon during AR/Intervention time or appointment IN CLASS.
- Weekly pattern: Monday Test on previous week, Tues-Thursday 2 section lessons (keep a notebook for points) spread out over 3 days with two assignments opened, Friday Q&A day and Practice Test

Helpful to stay on top of grade in class (it's time to take control and get rid of Post-Covid/Middle School habits):

Cell Phone policy 25/26 - do not make this an issue, follow school protocols for phone.
bathroom right around corner, why go to bathroom and then wander? you are missing something ... and "shhhh" I often change present to absent if gone for more than 10 min (not in class for more than 10 minutes is an unexcused absence)
stay on top of due dates (fri HW due) and late makeup (Ab Test makeup one week) windows
don't think you can recover grade the last 2-3 weeks of the semester
charge your Chromebook nightly, I am outta cords, you take a zero for the day
Tardies daily ... you miss the first 10 minutes and information and one week = one day a week absent!
BE SENSITIVE to those around you who need the classroom time to start assignments, they may rely on it because life after the school isn't so awesome.
starting to get behind or not understand - ask me questions during class work time, come in before school or during intervention time.
It's pretty easy to get an A or a B in high school, just don't skip an assignment or a test and get a zero/s, that's when your grade drops. No teacher wants to give any student that has attempted everything lower than a C.
Make sure you understand expectations like "do 20+, get 15 correct" or "do all, get 15 correct" - many started to get lazy mid-semester 1, did enough to get 50% correct then didn't do all 20+ or all - and that isn't full credit.
USE CLASS TIME TO GET ASSIGNMENTS DONE DAILY (temptation to play games etc on Chromebook - ugh!) - Who likes homework anyway, get it done in class!
Take notes, you can use them on tests. Don't throw away an easy 1/3 grade increase at Semester check of notes!
Take advantage of both the regular and Desmos calculator available on every test and assignment.
4th period, beware the temptation of taking part of 1st lunch and we have 2nd lunch, those tardies add up and I do all announcements and instructions in the first 10 minutes.
1st period absences, creating a shortened schedule for yourself. Monday regular absences because it is always a Late Start.
Attendance is kinda important in a math class, most students that failed Sem 1 had 30-60 absences in 90 days, that's missing 2-4 days per week. Don't try to create your own "hybrid" schedule and ask your teachers for at home makeup.
Look at Calendar above often, absent a lot? Then it tells you what we are doing and you can do assignments at home for missing in Big Ideas, and tests you can make up within one week during AR Time with a pass (or in class by just asking). Don't get behind if absent, it isn't a "day off of work" - make it up or do it when absent.
START STRONG - 1st Impression if new to my class.
Developing bad habits by pacing of the class ... is that REALLY what you should be doing during class time? should you really "skip" doing that assignment?
The Homework/Classwork 20% and Assessment 80% gamble - if you don't do HW, the best you can get is an 80% B- (the gamble: you get 100% on every test ???????)
Finish Strong at the End of the Semester - Don't let the Final Exam be your grade downfall.
