Independent Learning time is for learning opportunities connected to course content connected to the 60 minute they proceed. Teacher created/directed/assigned but not teacher facilitated during that time. Think asynchronous as described in DL Playbook pg. 59-61.

“Most distance learning schedules have far fewer numbers of hours of contact than in face-to-face instruction…. Too often, a misplaced focus on doing as much direct instruction as possible in live sessions has meant that interaction opportunities have decreased even more. Use these approaches to maximize ways to building and maintain relationships (and learning) across the school year.

Pg. 60 and 61 provide strategies in numbers 3 and 4. In addition to other assignments, pre-work to prepare for class that a teacher may already have in their tool bag.

Intervention/Enrichment/Choice/HSBP: Teachers will meet with their Advisory group Tuesday-Friday. Teachers will receive specific curriculum during this time to support SEL, Character Strong and High School and Beyond Plan. This will also be the time for students with IEP’s get additional support or enrichment instruction for students in AP classes during 2^nd quarter.

Zero period TBD: Meets during 2^nd quarter combine teacher planning and flex WAC time to total 80 minutes.
