Welcome back. I am so excited to meet you and will accept you for how you show up space of learning, failing forward, and growing. I am delighted to be your ELA or English Language Arts and Reading teacher.

We will start this year learning a lot about who you are and what you need to be successful. We are an AVID middle school. I will teach strategies that help you as a scholar prepare for challenging classes and give you choices when you enter college and careers after high school.

Speaking of college, I am a Washington State University graduate #GO COUGS, where I earned a degree in English, a degree in Education, and a minor in German, and earned my master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Lesley University. I am celebrating my 30th year of marriage with my groom, Mr. Tim Carstens, a VP at Auburn Mountainview High School. We are both 1991 graduates of Auburn High School.
Speaking of college, I am a Washington State University graduate #GO COUGS, where I earned a degree in English, a degree in Education, and a minor in German, and earned my master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Lesley University. I'm a super proud mom of Taylor, who graduated from Barrett the Honors College at Arizona State University #Go Sundevils, who is also an elementary school teacher, and Katie, who graduated Washington State University studying in the Honors College and in the Carson College of Business #Go Cougs, who works as a convention development manager. I am also the Gigi of 4 adorable cats, Grandpa Rainier, Professor Rosenthal, Kumar, and Harold. We also have three cats: Hank, Hudson, and Maple.
