This year, MBMS is hosting its very first dance since pre-Covid times. ASB, as well as our staff members, have worked tirelessly to bring you our Under the Starry Winter Sky-themed dance.
“We were all talking about themes, and one of the officers was like,” ASB officer Jennifer Ung said. “‘Oh, wait, we can still have, like, some sort of retro theme yet still a winter theme, you know, because like, cold and dark.’”
The unconventional theme provides fun opportunities for students to dress in unique and eye-catching outfits, and gives the ASB a chance to make bright, beautiful decorations.
“It won't be like a highschool [dance] yet.” Ung said.
Highschool dances are much more formal, with more specific dress codes and themes. However, the dance will still have delicious food, a photoshoot opportunity, and of course, music provided by a DJ.
According to the MBMS student survey, most students are looking forward to hanging out with their friends at the school dance.
"I'm looking forward to helping others and working with students" ASB Officer Myalyn McCarthy said.
The dance not only provides a cheap, entertaining and social way for students to spend a school night, but also helps the ASB fund more fun activities and events for students. All money raised from ticket sales, 5 dollars for students without ASB, 3 dollars for students with ASB, will go towards more spirit days and other events, including the seventh and eight grade dance.
"[We categorized the dance by grade so] that way each grade can have their own level of fun that corresponds to them," Ung said.
For more information about upcoming school dances, listen to the morning announcments, which will provide updates when needed. The seventh and eighth grade dance is expected to have a similar theme to the sixth-grade dance. Be sure to get your tickets early, as tickets are selling out fast! Waiting until the day of the dance to buy tickets only guarantees you a very long line.
