Everyone listens to love songs, in fact, 67% of songs are love songs! But with so many love songs crawling
around, especially with Valentine's Day just around the corner, we must consider what these love songs are really telling us.
Take a look and endure some of the terrible advice within these love songs....
This is a song that most people know due to Justin Bieber's immaculate fame. It was released in 2015 and immediately shot to the top of the charts.
The reason this song is beheld with bad advice is because the message of the song is about how Justin is saying sorry and begging to be taken back despite the bad things he had done to ruin the relationship in the first place. Saying something like ¨I know you know that I made those mistakes maybe once or twice. And by once or twice, I mean maybe a couple of hundred times...¨, showing he obviously hasn't just made this mistake once, but hundreds of times! I, personally, would not let this slide.
This extremely popular Britney Spears song came out in 1999 and was a big hit and contributed to her fame
This song is just littered with bad love advice! With lyrics like, " The reason I breathe is you...", and " Hit me, baby, one more time" are concerning amongst themselves. Asking to be hit, even one more time, is concerning. And not being able to breathe without someone is by far definitely not healthy.
This song is by popular musician Taylor Swift and is one of her most iconic songs, coming out in 2014 and gaining over 3 billion views on YouTube!
But despite the song's great tune, when you really listen to the lyrics, it can get dark and have some distressing advice. Saying things like ¨So it's gonna be forever, Or it's gonna go down in flames...¨ and ¨Just wait, the worst is yet to come...¨. Upon hearing these lyrics the bad advice is very clear. Saying either it's gonna be forever or something bad will happen like going down in flames is yet to come is extremely concerning and the kind of advice on lyrics you should never replicate in real life.
This song that I'm sure a lot of people have heard during a car ride or on a station was made in 2014 and is a beloved song by Sam Smith fans.
This song displays lyrics that contradict themselves and overall give off some horrible advice. Lyrics like ¨Oh, won´t you stay with me.¨ and "This ain´t love, it's clear to see", really don´t make sense in a way. He is just begging to get back with someone despite acknowledging that it isn't even love.
This song came out in 1983 and was even called "Very, very sinister" by the songwriter Sting, who wrote the song.
With this song, it's not just the lyrics that are creepy... it's the whole song! The lyrics go, "Every single day, Every word you say, Every game you play, Every night you stay, I'll be watching you¨. Not only is this extremely creepy itself, but it repeats ¨I´ll be watching you¨ after almost all parts of the song!
