History

In 2008, when Team 2907, Lion Robotics, first started out, the team consisted of a small group of high schoolers looking to gain engineering experience and build upon the motto of, “Simple, Reliable, Creative.” Now, in our 12th season, we’ve ascended in our mission while still maintaining the principles we were built upon. From these guiding values that continue to build our team, we wish to rise to the challenge of ensuring the sustainability of FIRST in addition to transforming the perception of STEM in our society through direct support of FIRST, local community involvement, and team leadership skill development.

2018 - Power Up

2017 - Steamworks

2016 - Stronghold

2015 - Recycle Rush

2014-2015 has been yet another amazingly successful year. Our goal was to live up to our teams legacy of earning a spot at the world championship. We once again hosted a district event at our school, and a kickoff event. This year the regional championship was hosted in Spokane Washington, we did well in qualifying and won the spirit award. At the world championship we competed to the best of our abilities, but did not get picked up for finals, we learned this year to not set limits for ourselves, and to push for innovative designs.

2014 - Aerial Assist

2013-2014 has started as our best year yet! Our goal is to win our way to Worlds and we have started well. Our state has instituted District model competition and our school volunteered to host a competition. At the first ever Pacific Northwest District competition, our team finished in seed number 2 and with the help of our Northwest Alliance partner Team 2046 Bear Metal, and with Team 3237 Bionic Braves, we were the winning alliance! We are now in prepartion for our next District event!

Sent 13 girls to participate in Girls Generation", Hosted by Team 2046.

  • Mentored FLL teams at Rainier Middle School and Valley Christian.

  • Industrial Design Award winner, Sponsored by General Motors.

  • Hosted FIRST WA FRC leadership camp.

  • PNW District Winners!

2013 - Ultimate Ascent

2012-2013 was another great year for the team! Again we had a goal to win a Regional and go to World championships. The win on the field still eluded us but we did one better and in our second Regional event at Spokane WA, we won the Chairman's Award! The scramble was on to find a way to fund our team to go to Worlds. We got a lot of support from our community and from our district and were able to send a fairly large team to St.Louis, MO. We competed on Galilao field and we were the 4th seed going into our last match! Unfortunatly, our robot didn't score during the autonomous period and that was the difference in the match, dropping us to 15th seed. We did not get selected for finals so our competition season was over. Again, our team learned a lot and had a ton of fun!

  • Sent 12 girls and six mentors to participatein Girls Generation Competition

  • Auburn Food Bank Christmas Basket Distribution to over 200 families

2012 - Rebound Rumble

2011-2012 is a great year for us! Our students did a great job fund-raising and brainstorming! Our goal was to attend two regionals, win at least one and be invited to the Championship! We didn't quite make it to the win but we did have two very successful Regional events, making it into the final rounds in each. We learned a lot about alliance selections, awards submissions, marketing, and how to compete! Our club is becoming a force in our state.

  • Traveled to Portland with eight girls and five mentors to particpate in Girls Generation Competition

  • Helped start and mentor FLL Team 10689 "Techno Tigers",TAF Academy, Federal Way

2011 - Logomotion

As we began the 2010-2011 Season we add a Robotics class to our High School and are getting into the theory behind the robot:-gears-pneumatics-drive trains-omni wheels-programming... We also added a third coach, Regina Grubb. Her addition gives us logistics support and more brain power. Our goal was to make it into the Regional Finals and we not only accomplished that but made it into semi-final rounds finishing tied for third place! Our team really came together into a cohesive unit over the course of 2011. From kickoff to competition we worked together with our mentors putting together a quality product within a limited budget. Thank you to our sponsors and mentors!

  • Played in eliminations on third seed Alliance with 3rd ranked Team 1294 “Top Gun”

  • Seattle Olympic Regional, Ranked 8th with a record of 9-6-0. Semifinalists!

2010 - Breakaway

Season 2009-2010 was our second year participating in the FIRST FRC program. We were still a work in progress and in addition to competing in the Seattle Regional, we entered a few of the other contests, including web design. We had a more organized build season our second year and we learned how to "play the game" much better than our first outing. We had several problems to overcome and although our robot was quick and agile and even had a device to help us climb, we had programming problems along with some unreliable parts and we just didn't compete effectively. Failure can be a great teaching tool and with the opening of our third season we were excited to make improvements.

  • Microsoft Seattle Regional, ranked 41st with a record 3-4-2

  • First year developed CAD model of robot

  • “The year that shall not be named”

  • First year of scouting by Mr.Scott

2009 - Lunacy

Team 2907 began as a rookie team in 2008. After seeing some of the great things that FIRST was accomplishing nationwide, Tim Scott and Mike Fawcett wanted to get involved. With the support of the Auburn School Distict and the generous contribution of Boeing, the team was incorporated and began the steep learning curve of participation in FRC Robotics! Dreaming, planning, mentoring, teambuilding, and competing, Team 2907 became "TEAM"2907.We competed successfully in the 2009 Seattle Regional competition, finishing 28 of 56. Our definition of was to design, fabricate, and build a robot that would run reliably and be able to score points.

  • Founded by seven students; by end of season over 30 members and 9 mentors

  • Original name:The Robotics,Engineering,Computer Club - TRECc or "T-Rex"

  • Microsoft Seattle Regional, ranked 28th with a record of 4-3-0
