Dear Parents/Guardians, Teachers, and Students 2019-2020
Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year! We are looking forward to another great year of reading and learning in the library. Gildo Rey Library houses thousands of books, reference materials and a wonderful computer lab. Our mission is to ensure that all students are effective users of ideas and information. With the aid of our resources and the goal of integrating technology, we hope to give all students the ability to be creative, life-long learners and build a love of reading.
Weekly Library Visits
All Grades Pre-K - 5th will visit the library one time a week (see schedule). During the scheduled library time, students will enjoy literature, learn the many skills needed to locate materials in a library and have the opportunity to practice digital citizenship and Computer Science skills. Each student may check out books during their library time.
Check Out Procedures
Kindergarten students that have turned in a permission letter can check out one book per week and should return both their book and the large plastic Ziploc bag, used to keep their book safe, each week. Students in 1st grade can check out 1 book each week. 2nd - 5th grade can check out two books each week. Book are check out for a period of 2 weeks. Students can not check out additional books if they have any books that are late, damaged or missing, so please help remind your students to bring back their book each week.
Behavior Expectations
The expectation is that all students maintain a quiet voice, work when given time and participate in all library lessons and activities. Computers will always be used appropriately and students will follow the School Code of Conduct maintaining respect for all students & staff.
