Q: What time is practice?
A: On a "school day" practice is 3:00-5:00pm. On the weekends, we will practice early in the morning usually.
Q: Will practices be 2 hours all year?
A: No. they will decrease in time as the year progresses. There is a lot to teach early on, but by the end of the year, they will be an 1 1/2 hours at most.
Q: My daughter made JV, does she have a chance to play Varsity this year?
A: Teams are never permanent, players always have a chance to be moved up if necessary. Players can also be asked to move down a team for more playing time or any other reason. Cuts are also not only in August, if necessary, coaches can cut a player from the program at any time throughout the season.
Q: Are all practices mandatory?
A: Unless stated otherwise, yes! Missing practices will impact playing time.
Q: My family has a vacation scheduled during the season, can I still play volleyball?
A: If you have a vacation planned during the season, coaches need to know about it ASAP! We do not like surprises during the season as it could impact you, certain teams, or the entire program if we do not know that you are going on vacation and then suddenly have to leave. We ask that you DO NOT schedule vacations from August-November.
Q: Do kids need to ride home on the bus to and from away games?
A: YES!!! Unless it is an emergency situation and cleared by our Athletic Director (Chris Carr).
Q: Do JV and C teams need to stay and watch the Varsity at home games?
A: We ask that C/JV stay for the first set of the Varsity match and then they are free to leave. But it is highly recommended to join the fun and cheer on our Varsity team!
Q: When school is not in session do you still have practice?
A: Yes. JV and C team may vary from the practice schedule a little, but that is up to their coach.
Q: Who do I communicate with if my daughter is sick?
A: Parents do NOT, unless absolutely necessary....your DAUGHTER communicates with their coach (Varsity, JV or C). The appropriate communication lines are in person, email, or phone. We feel strongly about teaching accountability and responsibility to our players. It's a life skill worth learning!
Q: Can we come talk to one of the coaches about our daughter?
A: Of course! Please schedule at appropriate times (after a game is not appropriate). We will talk to you about your daughter, however, we will not talk about:
1. Playing Time
2. Style of Play
3. Other Players
Q: My daughter is on C team. Can I expect her to play a lot?
A: Our expectations are as follows: C Team players will play equally (or very close to it). On JV, all players will play, but it may not be equally. On Varsity, players will play that give us the best opportunity to win (in other words, there are no guarantees that kids will play at all at the varsity level)
