What Is Confidentiality?

When you meet with your school counselor, what you say to us will be kept private. All students have the right to confidentiality with their counselor unless one of these 3 things is true:

          1.  You are at risk to harm yourself.

          2.  Your are planning to harm someone else.

          3.  You are being hurt or neglected.

If in the course of a counseling session one of these things is mentioned, the school counselor is bound by law and ethics to report the incident to the proper agencies and/or family.
