LEAD WITH PASSION AND COMPASSION
Hello all, my name is Mari Bushell and I am a high school biology teacher at Auburn Mountainview High School. In addition to teaching biology, I have experience teaching physics, chemistry, and general science.
I received my Masters in Teaching from Western Washington University and my B.S. in Physiology (Biology) with a minor in Mathematics from the University of Washington. I also received a certificate for Instructional Design in e-Learning from the University of Washington. I am passionate about curriculum design and equity in the classroom.
At AMHS, I am also proud to be the Multicultural Club Advisor and active member of the Equity Team.
Outside of school, I am a mother of two (ages 11 and 12). I enjoy reading, playing video games and strategic board games, and doing taiko drumming.
Let's be real: science is hard. I love having the opportunity every day to break down complex topics into digestible parts. I hope that students leave my classroom knowing how to ask questions, analyze and interpret data, engage in evidence-based arguments, and design solutions to real problems!
I am confident in my ability to:
develop and deliver engaging lesson plans that align with state learning standards
regularly integrate formative assessment to inform my teaching
sequence and scaffold complex topics into logical and manageable parts
differentiate learning to accommodate varying academic needs, abilities, and achievement potentials
utilize a wide variety of classroom management techniques to maximize classroom productivity
create an intentional learning environment that fosters predictability and routine
Please use this website to keep up to date on what is going on in my classroom.
