Science grades are based on classwork (10%) and assessments (90%). Classwork includes lab simulations, lab notebooks, videos, etc. Assessments include tests and quizzes.
Classwork will be assigned through Google Classroom or Stemscopes (our science curriculum). A daily post is made in Google Classroom with directions on where to find an assignment. For students to receive the most benefit from completing assignments, classwork should be turned in on time. I do not reduce credit for late work. I will only look at an assignment one time, please don't turn in blank/unfinished work.
Tests must be taken during the class period scheduled unless arranged with me ahead of time or communication as to why the test was not taken. If a student fails to take a test, a grade of zero will be entered for the test in Skyward. Test corrections (for partial credit) are available for assessment scores you would like to improve. Once a test is returned to you, you will have one week to get test corrections done and turned in.
Regular attendance at daily Google Meets is important for success in science class. Students can access these Meets through the Google Classroom. Students can miss a significant amount of instruction by missing even one meet. Also, we often work through assignments together during the class meeting. To be marked present for class, I need to know you are actually there. Therefore, you must log in, participate (in the chat or unmuting), and have evidence of work. Just logging in without participating may result in getting marked absent.
*You can decide if you want to have your camera on or off, but remember that it is easier for me to get to know you if your camera is on.
*Your mic should be muted unless you are sharing or called on.
*Participation is expected verbally or through the chat.
*Vocabulary should be school appropriate.
*Please keep the chat appropriate and on topic.
*Listen when other are sharing.
*NO taking pictures or videos during class.
Students are encouraged to ask questions during Class Meetings.
Students can email Ms. Buhr.
Students can request a individual Google Meet with Ms. Buhr to get help with an assignment or test corrections. Monday afternoon is a good time to schedule these meetings.
Students can attend Bulldog Time Office Hours on Thursday between 10:55 and 11:25.
