Purpose:
Students will develop strategies to successfully navigate social settings both within and outside the school, equip students with the knowledge, tools and resources they will need to adapt, grow and stay safe in today's ever-changing technological world, improve organizational skills and develop skills to prepare students for their futures to become college and career ready.
Grading:
Grades will be based upon homework, in-class assignments, notes, projects, presentations, quizzes, and test scores. Quiz and test grades will be worth double points.
A: 100-90 B: 89-80 C: 79-70 D: 69-60 F: 59 or lower
Quizzes & Tests:
You are expected to take tests on the day assigned. If you are absent on the day, you need to schedule a time before or after school or during a study hall to make up the quiz or test. All quizzes and tests must be made up within 5 school days after returning. Any not made up by the end of that time will remain a "0".
Cheating / Plagiarism:
Students are expected to do their own work. Students caught cheating will receive a zero for the assignment.
Supplies:
All students are encouraged to have a folder/binder, notebook paper, and pen/pencil to use in class. The majority of work will be on the computers, but some students like to make their own notes. Students are not allowed to leave papers in the classroom. Not all assignments will be computer.
** Students are not allowed to bring in their own keyboards or mice to use on the computers unless there is a specific reason why you need a special keyboard and/or mouse. No external items - including chargers - are to be plugged into the computers. Students doing so will have items confiscated and taken to the office.**
Passes:
Three passes are allowed per quarter for the restroom, locker, office, and/or drinks. Use them wisely. Any passes asked for after will result in a tardy being issued. Mrs. Cunningham will keep track of all passes used.
Absences:
You are allowed to make up work for absences. If you are absent when a homework assignment is collected for a grade, that assignment is due immediately upon the student’s return. When absent, you are given one day for each day absent to make up all work. It is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to pick up the work, check Google Classroom, or talk/email to Mrs. Cunningham about what you missed while you were absent. **Zero’s will be entered for any missing assignments regardless of the nature of the absence. As soon as the work is made up a grade will be entered into Skyward.
Tardies:
If you are late to class, you will be marked as tardy. Detentions for tardies will be issued from the office.
Phones / Earbuds:
As per school handbook. All devices must be approved per the handbook and any devices that do not fall under the handbook rules will be confiscated and given to the office.
Homework / Late Work Policy:
All electronic assignments must be turned into Google Classroom or Microsoft Teams by the time posted in Classroom/Teams. All assignments will have a date and time posted with the assignment as to when it is due.
All paper assignments must be turned in to Mrs. Cunningham by the beginning of that class period.
Assignments turned in late but on the day they are due and by the end of the school day (3:15 pm) will be given a late grade (-10%). If the assignment is turned in the next day, you will earn 50% for what you have correct. Any other assignments turned in late or not turned in when due will receive no credit.
If you need help on an assignment, you need to contact me BEFORE the assignment is due. You can do this either before or after school or send me an email and I will contact you.
Students are expected to do their own work. Students caught cheating (giving or taking answers) will be given a zero for the assignment or test.
Expectations:
1. Be on time, on task, and prepared to learn everyday.
2. Respect not only the teacher, the classroom materials & equipment, but also all others students and yourself.
3. Take responsibility for your own actions.
4. Stay in your seat until you are dismissed.
5. Keep all PERSONAL electronics put away and in the assigned area.
6. Label all homework assignments with your name (first and last), hour, and date.
