Welcome to Graphic Design I!
This course is a beginner-friendly introduction to the world of digital design. If you’ve ever wanted to learn how to make eye-catching graphics, logos, posters, or social media content using professional tools—this is the place to start.
The basics of graphic design: color, layout, fonts, composition, and visual balance
How to use Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, the top tools used by real designers
How to create projects like logos, ads, album covers, and more
How to think creatively, solve design problems, and share your ideas visually
How to build a personal design portfolio to show off your work
Because this is a beginner course, we’ll spend a good amount of time using GMetrix, an interactive training platform, to learn the ins and outs of Adobe Photoshop. Students will prepare for and have the opportunity to take the Adobe Certified Professional exam in Photoshop—a great way to show off their skills and earn a real industry-recognized credential.

GMetrix (for guided practice and certification prep)
School computers (or approved personal devices/tablets)
Sketchbook or notebook for brainstorming and planning
No design experience? No problem. This course is made for beginners in middle or high school who are creative, curious, or just want to learn something new and hands-on. Whether you’re interested in design, marketing, gaming, social media, or art—there’s something here for you.
This is a project-based class, not a test-heavy one. You’ll get plenty of time to practice, create, and improve at your own pace. We work like a creative studio—sharing ideas, giving feedback, and building a design mindset.
Graphic Design I is all about learning real skills in a fun, supportive space. You'll leave this class with more confidence, creative tools, and your first step into the world of design.
Can’t wait to see what you’ll make!
