Research the school you would like to go to
Check their fast facts
Check the cost of tuition
Check to see the location of the schools
Check to see if they your major at the institution and check the requirements
Go to the schools admissions website and click on apply
Follow the steps to apply to the school (NOTE: some US schools charge a fee to apply)
Contact the Registrar's office at AUAF and AUCA or AUIS to get a copy of your transcripts
Send in your transcripts to the schools/ send AUAF and AUCA/AUIS the address for your transcripts to be sent.
Go through the financial aid process and look at the information that is needed to be shared for the financial aid process

Use a online database to find a school that has a program or major you would like to complete
Use Google to find the address of the institution
Look to see what leadership opportunities they offer
Check the cost of living of the area if possible to know how much money things may cost
Use Google or Google Earth to look at the location of the institution and see what is around the area of the school
Look to see what is around the institution, many US schools are located in rural locations and may not have immediate access to things you may be used to like barbers, salons, grocery stores, malls, places of worship, etc.
Gather your transcripts from all schools you attended
Make sure that you research the location of the institution you are applying
Attend any informational sessions for the institution and the school and program you are applying
Ask for informational interviews current students, faculty, and staff
If you are transferring there is a chance that not all of your credits will transfer. You may have to take some courses again.
Make sure you give people you are asking for recommendation letters at least 2-6 weeks to write the letter
Make sure to ask the person who is writing your letter of recommendation to write good or positive recommendation letter
Make sure you are asking people you have an established relationship with.
Do not expect someone to have enough turn around time to write a letter in 2-3 days before the application is due
Provide your cover letter, resume, information about the institution and program you are applying to, and set up a meeting time so people can help tailor the recommendation letter to that program.
Use the 5 paragraph essay style of writing
Focus on a opening, body of the essay, and have a closing
Write a first draft of your essay and have someone review your essay and provide notes or suggestions
Make the edits to your essay and read it to see if it makes sense
Contact the Writing Center for assistance with grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
Make sure in your essay you explain how the institution will help you but also how you will help the institution by attending.
