Know yourself through...psychological testing

               Probable many students have already heard about psychological tests but some may not actually know how useful these tests are.

               Psychological tests are currently used widely among professionals in different fields. Tests reveal capacities, aptitude, and interests of a person. Various psychological tests are developed to serve different purposes. For this article, I would like to introduce one of popular standardized tests namely, MBTI or Myers- Briggs Type Indicator. An MBTI assessment questionnaire was developed by two psychologists Katherine Briggs and Isabel Myers. This personality test is used to identify the preferred personality which in turn is matched with potential career choice. The test is based on four opposite pairs of psychological differences with resulting in 16 possible personality types. The 16 types are abbreviated into four letters; each letter represents a certain type of personality. For examples:

E = Extroversion                I = Introversion,

S = Sensing                         N = Intuition,

T = Thinking                       F= Feeling,

J = Judgment                      P = Perception.

               The above mentioned personality types reveal possible career choices. ISTJ is suitable to be an accountant or programmer; ISFJ is suitable to be a judge; ISFP is a potential nurse; INTP is a future architect or design engineer and INFP is a potential artist or actor.

The MBTI assessment is a standardized test which is highly reliable. Knowing your personality types helps you to understand yourself better. Interested students please contact Center for Career Development and Counseling (CCDC), Student Affairs, CL13, Suvarnbhumi Campus.
