For young adults in Australia aged 18-35 years concerned about climate change
Become part of the voice for climate action in Australia...
We are stoked to invite you to LCOY Australia - an online conference to share knowledge on climate change & empower young adults in Australia for local action.
This event is free of charge & open to young adults living in Australia aged 18-35.
LCOY is a conference for young adults in Australia, aged 18 to 35, concerned about the climate crisis.
The conference will run online across 4 sessions over the weekend.
See full program here.
The theme is: Restoring the Climate: I am the Solution.
The conference will feature a variety of talks, panels and workshops from speakers from a diverse range of backgrounds.
As part of the conference, you'll have the opportunity to:
collaborate with others to build on ideas and outcomes
hear from experts and discuss solutions to restore climate change in Australia
network with like minded individuals and organisations
hear stories of success and failures from others
learn how to find common ground to make changes in behaviours
learn the importance of community and supporting others within our community
most importantly contribute to something positive for the world from a foundation of peace and respect
Together, we'll create an outcomes document suggesting individual, community, government, & organisational actions.
This will feed into the outcome document for COY (Conference of Youth) where it will be shared with UNFCCC’s Action for Climate Empowerment Secretariat.

In brief, Local Conference of Youth (LCOY) is an initiative of YOUNGO, the official youth constituency at the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
These conferences are held in countries across the world with the aim to provide a space to boost youth climate action locally, and act as a national version of the international Conference of Youth (COY).
Background:
Formally recognized in 2009, YOUNGO serves as the official voice of young people from across the globe in the UN climate negotiations under the UNFCCC.
Since the very beginning, YOUNGO has organized and hosted a COY each year immediately prior to the annual Conference of Parties (COP) to the UNFCCC. This meeting provides a crucial space for youth to gather for networking, topical trainings, and preparation to actively engage in the COP and other UN processes relating to climate change, environmental protection and sustainable development.
In 2015, the global wave of energy around COP21, which gave us the Paris Agreement, sparked an interest by many young people who could not attend the main conferences in Paris to organize parallel conferences. Known as “Local COYs”, these meetings played a critical role in mobilizing more young people for climate action than ever before around the world.
This practice of Local COYs continued since then. As the world now moves into pursuing implementation of the Paris Agreement and raising ambitions in national and global efforts, it is more important than ever to engage young people beyond the realm of just the negotiations at the UNFCCC.
Climate change can be a heavy topic. But if we are able to connect to our own spirit our attitude can shape the quality of the outcomes of our words and actions - so our intention is to create a space of unity and collaboration, with the aim to inspire peaceful action.
For this reason we will be introducing meditation for the world and tools for self empowerment.
The Brahma Kumaris Australia is an organisation that teaches meditation and positive living, so we will be introducing a Meditation for the World in one of our sessions and offering a few fun tools for self empowerment throughout.
LCOY Australia 2021 is hosted by the Brahma Kumaris Australia.
The Brahma Kumaris is a worldwide organisation dedicated to personal transformation and world renewal through the power of meditation. It has an ongoing interest in developing programs that empower the individual.
