Overview
A systematic approach to the collection and maintenance of empirical data is crucial to effective field research. The addition of data acquisition tools such as compasses, maps, field sensors, voice & video recorders to field inventories improves the accuracy and speed of data collection in the field.
Open Data Kit (ODK) is a free & open source tool that is designed to create, collect and manage field data by creating spatial and non-spatial forms. ODK therefore offers a platform that combines the use of data acquisition tools with the integrity of digital data, and is one of the most widely used tool for digital data collection by field researchers.
This course intends to introduce users to the principles, structure of the ODK platform, form design, customization and server configuration.
Who can participate
This certificate course is open to anyone who is (or will be) collecting field data. Since there are limited number (30) of seats, we will be accepting applications on a first-come first-served basis. No prior knowledge of mobile data collection is required.
